Basic Features of the KNOWare™

So how does it work? The KNOWare™ CMS is a modular system made up of a collection of basic tools (modules) you use to build and manage any website. Along with the basic modules, we have built (and continue to build) modules that either provide functionality that is not available in the basic modules such as in our Calendar module, or, provides a dynamic way to reuse specific types of content such as in our Staff List module.

Managing Content with the Basic Tools

The core of the KNOWare™ CMS consists of the Pages, Content Review, File Manager, Sitemapper, and Users modules. These tools form the foundation of KNOWare™ and are included in all website solutions.

Pages are the backbone of any website. They define the structure of your site as well as act like a picture frame to display all your content.  The Pages module is content central for the KNOWare™ CMS and functions much like other editors with which you are familiar.

Content Review is where content that has been created or edited by those who do not have permission to publish is parked awaiting reviewed. A user with an administrator or publisher access level can then go in to accept or reject the edits. Only an administrator user can determine the level of access a user has and to what they have access.

File Manager is similar to both the Finder on a MAC or Windows Explorer. Files can be uploaded here and organized into directories or folders. The files can then be used in or linked to a web page.

Sitemapper gives you a bird's eye view of the page structure of your website. From the sitemapper, you can reorder or delete pages, change titles, add or modify keywords and keyword descriptions (for use by search engines), and view a page's id.

Users is only visible to those with administrator access. It lists all the people who currently have access to the website manager (CMS manager) and their access level. It also allows you to create new users, change passwords, and edit other user information.
